Electric properties of phosphate glasses

Nocun Marek, Bugajski Wladyslaw

Abstract

The results of DC conductivity studies of glasses and glass-ceramics from Li2O-P2O2-SiO2-TiO2-Al3O3 system are presented. The main crystalline phase in devitrificates is lithium titanium phosphate (LiTi2(PO4)3) but the phase composition strongly depends on the chemical composition of the glass. The activation energy of the conduction process is very low being characteristic of superionic conductors and equals ~0.25 eV. The DC conductivity at room temperature is about 1*10-6 Scm-1. The highest conductivity has been observed for glasses containing 2.5 wt% Al2O3.
