Studies of the single sideband Fresnel diffraction patterns of periodic objects

Abstract

Single sideband (SSB) Fresnel diffraction images of periodic objects formed by positive or negative frequencies are studied theoretically and verified experimentally. The numerical analysis on the example of binary amplitude diffraction grating showed the characteristic properties of SSB diffraction field. The similarities with intensity distributions of oblique illumination microscopic images are pointed out.
